“I prefer it. What’s it?” That is the query Atty Tantivit asks herself when she encounters a chunk of knickknack that attracts her in. She’s typically interested in jewellery that resists quick understanding, items which might be advanced, conflicting, or quietly provocative. They don’t reveal themselves directly. As a substitute, they spark curiosity.

Curiously, when she wears these items, she typically hears the identical query from others: “I prefer it. What’s it?”

In that temporary change, one thing delicate but significant occurs. Curiosity turns into a cause to achieve out. Jewellery turns into some extent of contact. Two folks—typically strangers—are momentarily related by means of a shared curiosity, a shared query, or maybe a shared worth. These moments usually are not deliberate. They don’t seem to be extended. And but, they’re typically intimate and memorable.

On this approach, the jewellery she wears features each as a magnet and a filter.

Tantivit exhibited a part of her assortment of knickknack in her Bangkok gallery, ATTA Gallery, January 29, 2026–March 22, 2026. The present was referred to as I prefer it. What’s it?, and was co-curated with Chalisa Viravan, who works within the fields of wellness, interior exploration, and holistic approaches to self-understanding.
